Polythene sheet, Voile, Fishing Wire with projection and sound
Our perception of value is constantly changing, and I have been exploring this through the colour blue and it’s historical connotations. In the past, the difficulty of producing a pigment resulted in blue being reserved for only those deemed worthy. Renaissance painters used blue sparingly to denote wealth - both of their subjects and their commissioners. In today’s world, blue plastic bags reign in a kingdom of consumerism, facilitating our relentless consumption. My work focusses the sublime nature of the colour itself, while also demonstrating its ethereal existence. The sound element draws attention to the religious and spiritual connotations of the colour.
